I love pop art! Big bold colours with minimal details that somehow create a great portrait. This is the first of a ‘Big Hair’ series that I’m working on using complimentary colours and avant garde styles!

Abstracts are hard. Of all the styles I’ve tried, abstracts are definitely the most difficult for me as there’s nothing but the canvas and your imagination to work with. So for this abstract I decided to work with geometric forms and block colours, topped with a fluid pink ribbon to express the concept of division with, perhaps, something to combine as well.

We were doing a workshop on pattern and colour inspired by the works of Gustav Klimt. Of course nobody can emulate his genius in a half day workshop, but I did try to incorporate the Japanese influences and rich colours in this abstract work.

I wanted to capture the joy of summer at the beach, and what better way to show it than with a young child playing in the surf. This acrylic work aims to express the movement of the water and the exuberance of youth.

I painted this landscape after attending a workshop on colour and how it could be used more creatively in landscapes. I just love how trees in blue, pink and yellow still give the impression of a traditional landscape, with the barbed wire in the foreground a reminder of how fragile our natural world really is.

I love animals! With two fluffy dogs and a psychotic cat at home I’ve been wanting to create more animal art. This is not one of my fur babies (maybe later!) but I fell in love with Dougie the Dachshund and wanted to capture his sweet face on canvas. I’ve used a limited pallette – only two complimentary colours and loose brush strokes to bring Dougie’s personality to life!

I have always loved Australian wildflowers and wanted to create a work that would highlight the beauty of our native flora. This piece features a collection of stunning native flowers with proteas, bottlebrush and more depicted in a loose bouquet. I’ve used bold brush strokes and colours to bring out the beauty of these Australian icons.

Shiro Hana means white flower in English. For this work I used a pallette knife to create beauty and simplicity in the style of an ikebana flower arrangement. using a limited pallette of just blue and white, with just a touch of hot pink to bring it to life!

I wanted to challenge myself to go way outside my comfort zone, take a quick pic from the garden and turn it into something bright and colourful. The key word here is COLOUR! It’s turned a very ordinary garden scene into something that would pop on anyone’s wall!
