The idea for this work was to take something mundane like a nice, neat bunch of flowers and turn it into something almost entirely different. Just a concept or impression only slightly related to the original source material. It’s a fun process with unexpected results!

Getting up close and personal with nature really shows it’s beauty and elegance. I have always loved botanical works and wanted to try my hand at bringing a single bloom to life in a large format that would make and impact in any room. Deep pink roses convey gratitude, recognition and appreciation – most appropriate for this wonderful work of nature.

I’ve used both brush and palette knife to to create this impression of a beautiful water lily floating in a still pond. Jewel colours bring the scene to life and take the viewer to a calm and contemplative place.

Gone Native

I have always loved Australian wildflowers and wanted to create a work that would highlight the beauty of our native flora. This piece features a collection of stunning native flowers with proteas, bottlebrush and more depicted in a loose bouquet. I’ve used bold brush strokes and colours to bring out the beauty of these Australian icons.

Shiro Hana

Shiro Hana means white flower in English. For this work I used a pallette knife to create beauty and simplicity in the style of an ikebana flower arrangement. using a limited pallette of just blue and white, with just a touch of hot pink to bring it to life!

Sunflowers

Sunflowers are such a glorious things to paint and add a wonderful pop of colour to any room! These particular flowers were a birthday gift from a dear friend and were so beautiful that I decided to capture them in oils.
