I wanted to capture the joy of summer at the beach, and what better way to show it than with a young child playing in the surf. This acrylic work aims to express the movement of the water and the exuberance of youth.

Our art group was challenged to create a figurative work with some non-paint elements so I thought I would create something with a Victoriana/steam punk look, incorporating fabric roses into the mix. I think the result is a beautiful, whimsical portrait with an ‘otherworldly’ feel.
